Sijia Chen Studio Announces Selected Denver Artists for Shared Vision Collaboration

Sijia Chen Studio is pleased to announce that two Denver-based artists, Aisha Renee Brown and Jessica Gerome, have been selected to participate in the Shared Vision Project as part of the Denver Arts & Venues / Denver Fire Department Station 40 Public Art Project.

 

The Shared Vision Project is an initiative within Sijia Chen Studio’s public art practice that supports local artists by creating compensated pathways into civic-scale public art. Through this project, selected artists are invited to contribute their own visual perspectives while participating in a guided design process connected to community engagement, site-responsive storytelling, and permanent public artwork.

 

For the Fire Station 40 project, Aisha Renee Brown and Jessica Gerome will each create an original, digitally produced papercut-inspired design for one panel within Sijia Chen’s permanent public artwork. Their contributions will become part of a larger sculptural work created for the station and the surrounding Montbello and Green Valley Ranch communities.

 

This collaboration is rooted in Sijia Chen Studio’s belief that public art should reflect not only the vision of the lead artist, but also the voices, experiences, and creative energy of the communities where the work will live. By inviting Denver artists into the process, the project expands community representation and builds a deeper connection between the artwork, the fire station, and the people it serves.​

 

Shared Vision Artists

Aisha Renee Brown creates portraits, public art, and community-centered artwork that explore identity, memory, and the stories that shape who we are. Inspired by everyday people and the resilience of the communities around her, she uses bold color, symbolism, and portraiture to create work that is both visually striking and emotionally accessible. Her background in graphic design and formal training in fine art inform a practice rooted in storytelling, connection, and belonging. Whether painting in the studio or collaborating with communities, Aisha hopes her work helps people recognize the value of their own stories and the humanity they share with one another.

 

Jessica Gerome is a multimedia artist based in the Denver Metro area. She sees art as a way of making thinking visual and uses complex visual patterns to represent what is present but unseen, the interconnectedness of our lives, and the cycles of decay and regeneration that dictate our life choices. She is currently a returning student pursuing her BA in Art Education at MSU Denver and focusing on applying sustainable, collaborative, and community engaged art in her practice.
